Kites 1

For my final term project I was working with the motif of KITES. Not so much the actual construction of flying kites, but the sculptural and symbolic aspects of the basic kite shape.
Here I am playing with coloured cotton and withies, using a 'mexican god's eye' weaving pattern.

My process tends not to come from a pre-conceived notion or image of what the final piece will look like. The way I work is to propose a starting point and from there to be open to an intuitive, organic process. That process might have dead ends and back loops, but my experience shows there is an imaginative logic that works its way out towards a creative conclusion.
